FIVE people who attempted to confront a man accused of murder had to be escorted from Waterford District Court this morning.

A woman and four men attempted to confront Danny Whelan (25) when he entered the court room flanked by Gardai and prison officers. The individuals shouted expletives and abusive remarks before being escorted out.

Whelan is charged with the murder of mother of four Samantha Walsh.

The State sought an adjournment until July 24 as they are awaiting finalisation of a toxicology report.
