Munster SHC: Waterford v Limerick: Score by Score

1-10 mins: Tom Devine breaks clear along the left wing and cuts in for the opening point. Waterford lose possession and Cian Lynch races forward to equalise for Limerick. Shane Dowling is wide for Limerick and the puck out goes to Philip Mahoney, he sends on to D. J. Foran who puts Waterford back into the lead with just three minutes played. Darragh O’Donovan levels with a brilliant sideline cut as Shane McNulty was sent into the Deise defence for the injured Shane Fives. Cian Lynch is fouled and Dowling points the free. Placed at full forward, Dowling goes deep to send over a fine point from play and, following a bad decision by referee Sean Cleere in penalising Austin Gleeson after a Limerick player in possession charged into him, Dowling sends over his third point. Limerick are now winning possession in every area and their first goal comes in the 10th minute with Flanagan putting Gearoid Hegarty through to beat Stephen O’Keeffe.
11-20 mins. Waterford can make no headway as Limerick continue to make all the running and possession is turned over easily. Stephen O’Keeffe fumbles a short delivery from Seamus Flanagan and Graeme Mulcahy capitalises to scramble the ball over the goal line despite the best efforts of Conor Gleeson. Dowling and Cian Lynch follow up with a point apiece. Waterford’s first score in fourteen minute comes with Pauric Mahony sending over a free followed by a Stephen Bennett point in the 20th minute.
21-35 mins. Jamie Barron is fouled and Pauric Mahony cuts the deficit to eight points. Between the 23rd and 30th minutes Limerick add six unanswered points from Tom Morrissey (2), Shane Dowling (3) and Kylee Hayes for a 2-13 to 0-5 lead before Pauric Mahony sends over two points in added time. A late point from Cian Lynch gives Limerick an unassailable thirteen point lead going into the second half on a score of 2-14 to 0-7.

Second Half
36-50 mins. Waterford send on Tommy Ryan and Maurice Shanahan for Stephen Bennett and Patrick Curran. Pauric Mahony gains possession from the throw in, is fouled and sends over the free. Stephen makes a great save to deny Kyle Hayes a goal and in the 37th minute he races clear from his goal along the right wing and sends over a great point from just inside his own half. Kyle Hayes hits back with a Limerick point and in the 42nd minute Waterford spirits are briefly lifted with Tommy Ryan racing in behind the Limerick defence to collect a delivery from Philip Mahony and finishing to the net. Limerick hit back with two more Dowling points from frees before Pauric Mahony gets one for Waterford. Further points from Flanagan and Dowling (F) give Limerick a double scores lead at 2-20 to 1-10.
51-70 mins. Jake Dillon replaces Stephen Roche in the Waterford attack as Gearoid Hegarty points for Limerick. Pauric Mahony sends over two points following fouls on Maurice Shanahan but Limerick keep pace with further points from Dowling and substitute David Dempsey. Maurice Shanahan has a great chance of a goal but takes the point from close range. Shanahan and English receive yellow cards and Pauric Mahony sends over another free. Mikey Kearney replaces Jamie Barron as time is just being played out now with Dowling and Mahony exchanging further points from frees before Mikey Kearney gets on the scoreboard with the final score of the game. F.T. Limerick 2-26, Waterford 1-16.
