TREACY’S  Hotel on the Quay was evacuated last night after a caller stated to Gardaí that there was a pipe bomb in the toilet.

Shortly before 9pm Gardaí in Waterford were contacted by 999 emergency services by a caller who made the claim.

Gardaí attended scene and the hotel was evacuated. A wedding was in progress when Gardaí arrived. A full-scale search was conducted of premises with each room and bathroom checked. No device was found. The hotel was re-opened following the conclusion of the search. Members of public were allowed to re-enter. The investigation is ongoing.
