After we went to print last night (Monday), news broke that Blues’ striker, Izzy Akinade, has left the club.

The club posted a short statement on their website…..

“Waterford FC can confirm that Izzy Akinade has left the club.

The striker, who joined the club ahead of the club’s return to the Premier Division in 2018, departs by mutual agreement.

The 25-year-old former Bray Wanderers and Bohemians striker scored eight league goals for the club.

Manager Alan Reynolds said: “The club would like to wish Izzy all the best. We signed him after gaining promotion two seasons ago and he scored some important goals for the club. We thank him for the hard work and efforts over the past 18 months. He’ll be missed on and off the pitch and was a really popular member of the squad.”
