GRIDLOCK alt-rock club returns to Electric Avenue for a weekender this Friday & Saturday after a full house on the June Bank Holiday. On the Friday (28 June) it’s the official after-party for the brilliant Backroad Smokers Club who play the Theatre Royal that night. Bobby & The Blunts will be playing in the Bar from midnight with Gridlock on the Terrace. Then on Saturday (29 June), after a 9pm gig by Metallica tribute, Whiplash (details below), Gridlock is on the Terrace again with Brand New Cadillac in the Bar.
On Sat, June 29, Electric Avenue brings you the Waterford debut of WHIPLASH who have been wowing audiences up and down the country the last few years. The band comprises four Metallica superfans who started in the late 1990s, gigging mainly around their home town of Galway before spreading their wings and now touring extensively around Ireland performing their high intensity and professional Metallica tribute. The lads have a huge catalogue of songs, spanning all Metallica eras including classics like One, Master of Puppets, Enter Sandman, Blackened, Fuel & Seek and Destroy. Whiplash are dedicated to playing the songs as close to the originals as possible and incorporate the Metallica live vibe and sound in their shows. This is a great opportunity to relive those Slane memories and hear the music of Metallica played the way it should be, live and LOUD. Advance tickets are just €10 at www.projectwaterford.com.
