AN 18-year-old man accused of the murder of a 25-year-old fisherman has been further remanded in custody by consent at Waterford District Court this afternoon.
Dean Kerrie, with an address at Portarlington, County Laois, has been charged with the murder of Dunmore East fisherman Jack Power (25) on July 26 of last year.
Solicitor Hilary Delahunty told Judge Kevin Staunton that a bail application is expected to be made in the High Court on Thursday, where it is hoped that the accused will be granted bail. If the DPP does not agree to Thursday, Mr Delahunty said his client might get bail next week.
Sergeant Michael Hickey of Waterford Garda Station said the Book of Evidence is expected to be ready in two weeks time.
Taking that into account, Judge Staunton said all that the District Court could do today was to remand Kerrie in custody by consent for two weeks until July 30.
