ON Sunday July 28, (4pm til late) Project venue in Waterford will host ‘Songs For Cassie’, an event to raise much-needed funding to support Cassie Stephens and her family, who have featured in the Waterford News & Star recently for the harrowing, brave and also uplifting journey they have been on.

In recent months Cassie has begun using THC medication, which has to be purchased from The Netherlands every three months. The cost of the medicine, and travelling is approximately €3k per quarter. The HSE, initially refused to reimburse the cost of the THC but have recently opened talks to reverse that decision. Nothing is confirmed as yet however and the expensive trips to the Hague continue. In addition to these trips, Cassie’s home, which she shares with her parents and her siblings, is overrun with equipment and medication needed to give her some quality of life.

Friends of Cassie, and her parents Mary and John, want to make life easier for them, and in addition to helping out with the cost of the travelling, would like to build a specially built shed in the back for all of Cassie’s things.

The event at Project, which will run from 4pm til late (families welcome for day time hours) will aim to contribute to those costs. The full line-up of music and entertainment is as follows:

4:30 – Rue de la Coup
5:15 – Deedoh & Guests
6:00 – Brand New Cadillacs
6:45 – Watch this Space
7:30 – Hank Wedel
8:30 – Bernie Bop & Guests
9:30 – Tommy Keating & Friends
10:30 – DJ Freddy Quinlan & Guests
11:15 – DJ Fatz
12:15 – DJ Will Power

The cost of the ticket is €10 and every penny will go towards Cassie’s care. A big Thank you to all sponsors and people involved in the organization of the event. If you can’t make the event, you can still buy a ticket or support on the Go fund it page. Tickets can be bought before the event at The CBD Ireland Shop on Patrick Street, Mount Sion Club and online at
There will be many great spot prizes on the night and your ticket will be in for every draw.
