SSE Airtricity League Premier Division
Bohemians -v- Waterford FC
Friday, September 13, 2019
Kick Off: 7.45pm
Referee: Neil Doyle

Waterford FC return to SSE Airtricity League action this Friday night with a trip to Dalymount Park to take on Bohemians.

The Blues come into the game on the back of four points in their least two Premier Division outings. A 2-1 win in Turners Cross, with goals from Maxim Kouogun and Walter Figueira, and a draw against Derry City have seen the Blues turn performances into points.

Since that last league outing at the start of last week, the Blues have been busy with a 3-1 win over Hearts Colts in the Scottish Challenge Cup and a 3-1 home defeat to Dundalk in the FAI Cup quarter-final.

The two sides last met in June when Michael Barker struck a 93rd-minute winner to see the Gypsies take all three points in a 2-1 win. The Blues’ last victory over Bohemians came at the tail end of last season with a 3-1 in Dalymount Park.

RENNIE’S VIEW

Speaking to WaterfordFC.ie ahead of Friday’s match against Bohemians, manager Alan Reynolds said:

“I was disappointed [to go out of the cup]. You can’t give away soft goals like we did against a team as good as Dundalk; they’re outstanding. If you give them space and time, they’ll punish you, but I thought we were better in the second half.

“We’ve started to come into a bit of form in the league in recent games. We’ve put in some good performances and we were rewarded with points against Cork and Derry.

“There’s been very little between ourselves and Bohs in the games so far this season, we drew both home and away and they snatched an injury time winner the last time in the RSC, so we’re going for the win.

“I know Keith and Trevor well and they’re pushing hard for that 3rd spot. Keith was down watching us on Monday so no doubt they’ll be well prepared too; so it’s up to us to put the performance in.”

TEAM NEWS

Zack Elbouzedi returns from international duty with the Republic of Ireland U21s but the Blues have a number of injury concerns ahead of the game with John Kavanagh, Dean Walsh and Karolis Chvedukas missing out, while Kenny Browne and Cory Galvin are big doubts.
