THE Imagine Arts Festival has a jam-packed arts, music and dance festival for adults but creeping along the edges of the city, whispering of the secrets of the City’s Ancient Walls is the Children’s programme at the Imagine Arts Festival.
The streets of Waterford are set to undergo a complete transformation as Waterford Youth Arts and Imagine Arts present Horribly Historic Trails from Wednesday, October 23 to Saturday, October 26 from 6.45pm each evening, leaving from outside the Medieval Museum in the City. The trail speaks of the ghosts, the legends and the names who have walked the very city streets and whose names are hidden in the very city walls. You will see Waterford in a new light, with a new pair of eyes. This event is aimed at those who are aged 6 and over, with an accompanying adult.
The chills continue through the Carriganore Woods, beside WIT Arena, where Spraoi will take over the woodland pathways with light, sounds, effects, creatures and stunning live performances. This showcase runs from Friday, October 25 to Sunday, October 27 from 6pm to 9pm. Tickets cost €5 each with family tickets available. A matinee for younger children or those who prefer a daytime show will run on Saturday, October 26 from 2pm to 4.30pm.
A more carefree artistic event runs in Goma Gallery on Sunday, October 27 where Free Yarnboming will replace chalk and paint with colourful displays of yarn. The creativity continues on Saturday, October 26 in The Book Centre from 1pm to 4pm with a free Children’s Illustration Hot Desk with Declan Pierce, who will work with children to create incredible characters and book covers. Pre-booking is advised for all events, with information available on www.imagineartsfestival.com.
