Faithlegg GC Director of Golf, Karl Cullen and Faithlegg GC Golf Professional, Derry Kiely at the announcement of the new investment in the club.

2020 will be the fifth year of a substantial investment programme by FBD Hotels into Faithlegg Golf Club as they continue to improve the course and facilities in Waterford. A further €100,000 will be invested in 2020 bringing the total to over €400,000 since Director of Golf, Karl Cullen’s arrival four years ago.
The investment programme has included the refurbishment of the Clubhouse, course verti-draining and sanding, new course signage and the addition of buggies and electric trollies for members and visitors. It has also seen the addition of a new course rough mower, surrounds mower, greens mower and machinery upgrades and the maintenance and improvement of course aesthetics.
For 2020 FBD Hotels plan to invest in the green side bunkers on the course, refurbish the locker rooms and pro shop and to complete the final phase of the machinery upgrades, including a fairway mower and machinery for aerating the greens on the course, plus adding more buggies to the fleet!
Speaking about the planned works for 2020, Karl is looking forward to the year ahead, “We are now coming to the end of the large investment programme by FBD Hotels, having the green side bunkers renovated is a massive undertaking and will improve the course consistency for the large number of members and guests who play Faithlegg each year. This will set Faithlegg apart in the Munster region and hopefully secure its place in the top 100 Irish courses for years to come.”
“Bunkers are the most labour intensive area of a golf course and the very top clubs in Ireland have consistent bunkers throughout their courses. Over time bunker sand gets contaminated with run off and clay particles which causes the bunkers to compact and harden especially after heavy rainfall. This bunker rejuvenation programme will ensure our members and visitors will have perfect fluffy bunkers to deal with when they come to play our course.”

Faithlegg Golf Club has always welcomed visiting societies and this year they are delighted to announce a new dual club partnership with The Heritage Golf Club in Co. Laois. This new partnership will allow societies to play both courses for a reduced rate. Societies that play both courses will be invited back at the end of 2020 to play for prizes of a 3 night stay in golfing paradise at La Cala Golf Resort in Spain.

Membership keeps growing from strength to strength each year and Faithlegg Golf Club have a fantastic mixture of members from all walks of life. Their Membership package is very attractive and includes leisure centre membership and €100 dining card for use in the Clubhouse. There are reduced rates also available for under 35s and over 70s and the excellent winter course allows members to play all year round which is of huge benefit to golfers and members can get incredible value for money at Faithlegg Golf Club.
2020 is shaping up to be a big year for Faithlegg Golf who are also looking forward to hosting the AIG Senior Cup Qualifiers for the first time. An ideal way to showcase the ongoing improvements at the Club.
