FORMER priest Oliver O’Grady is due to stand trial at Waterford Circuit Criminal Court on January 14.
O’Grady (74), currently in custody, appeared before Judge Kevin Staunton during a brief hearing at Waterford District Court. No bail application was made on the accused’s behalf while an application for legal aid was granted by Judge Staunton.
The complete book of evidence is to be furnished to the accused’s counsel “as a matter of extreme urgency”.
O’Grady was extradited from Portugal having been arrested under a European Arrest Warrant (EAW) in the Algarve in October.
He is accused of possessing a video contrary to Section 6 of the Child Trafficking and Pornography Act which was allegedly in his possession at a Waterford address on a date in 2015.
