Déise óg Development are delighted to be hosting the South-East Coaching Workshop 2020 in the WIT Arena, Carriganore on Leap Saturday February 29th. The Workshop is aimed at Hurling, Football and Camogie coaches from across Waterford and the South East with some fantastic speakers in store on the day.

TOP SPEAKERS
The theme of the Conference for this year is ‘Elevate Your Coaching – Leap into the 2020 Season and Beyond’. The list of confirmed speakers includes Jamesie O’Connor, a two-time All-Ireland winner with Clare and a well known hurling analyst with Sky Sports who will be leading a games-based hurling coaching session on the day. Jamesie provides fascinating insight each week on Sky Sports into what makes our greatest players tick and is always an interesting listen.
We are also delighted to announce that treble All-Ireland senior ladies football winning coach of the Dublin team, Mick Bohan, will be speaking on the day and also taking a games-based session. Mick has been involved with a number of high profile inter county teams in senior mens and ladies football and is renowned across the country for his work on developing the skills of the game.
Other speakers on the day include dietitian Aoife Hearne from RTE’s ‘Operation Transformation’ who will be speaking about her experiences as dietitian to the Tipperary senior hurling team and how you can help your players get the winning edge in terms of diet and nutrition. We are really looking forward to hearing Aoife speak and it will be a hugely beneficial session for all coaches in attendance. We will also be hearing from Jay Walsh who is an excellent locally based strength and conditioning coach. Jay has worked with a number of high performing athletes and teams and has a wealth of experience in the sports performance sphere. Jay will be discussing how to maximise match day warmups and how best to manage the post-match recovery of your teams.
Both Jamesie and Mick will also be taking part in a panel discussion with Jason Ryan and Lizzy Kent where we will be discussing a wide variety of topics related to coaching and getting the best out of your players. Jason is a coach developer with Waterford GAA and has been involved with the Wexford, Kildare and Cork senior football setups. He brings a wealth of experience to his role as coach developer and it will be fascinating to get his insights on the day.
Lizzy Kent has been involved with the WIT, Wexford GAA and Wexford Youths ladies team and she is currently a coach with the FAI U19 ladies soccer team as well as the Wexford Youths U17s. She brings a passion and a knowledge to her coaching that really gets players motivated and wanting to achieve. We are delighted she is available to speak at the Coaching Workshop and she will contribute hugely to what will be a really interesting panel discussion.
