A NUMBER of staff members at Cartamundi are awaiting the results of tests for the highly contagious Covid-19 virus after it was confirmed that a manager in the factory was diagnosed with the ‘Coronavirus’ this week.
Management at the factory, which employs over 300 people, were contacted by the HSE yesterday to inform them that a case of Covid-19 was “identified in your area”. The letter stated that contacts who worked closely with the infected person would have to self-isolate, away from work for 14 days. The Waterford News & Star understands that at least six employees were tested and should receive the results by the end of the day.
The factory has been forced to cease production do to a shortage in supervisors and line mangers who have been forced to self-isolate.
