OVER the weekend so far, the Waterford Garda Divisional Drugs Unit have carried out a number of searches of houses in the Waterford City area in the ongoing fight against the sale and supply of drugs in the City.

A total of five houses were searched which resulted in four arrests being made. None of the incidents were related and all arrested were males. They have all been released pending a file to the DPP.

Houses which were searched were in the following areas:

St Carthage’s Ave  – €980 in Heroin discovered
Newport Terrace  – €600 in cocaine
Templers Hall  – two Houses (1) €350 in cocaine €800 in Cannabis Herb
(2) €385 in cocaine
Mt Sion Ave – Small amounts of cocaine and cannabis herb found

Gardaí would also ask people if they notice any suspicious activity in their areas to report same to their local garda station.

Gardaí continue to carryout numerous checkpoint throughout the City and County. In the past two days Gardaí in Waterford City seized 4 vehicles from drivers who were driving without insurance. Two of the drivers had outstanding warrants against them also.
