ON April 8, 2020, at 12.15am, a beautiful man passed from this life. His name was William (Billy) Power, loving husband of Elizabeth (Lilly) Power, 15 Beech Park, Tramore.
Furthermore he was a father and best friend to his son, Steve and to his daughters Sarah and Lydia. Grandad to Ruby, Hana, Billy, Troy, Max and brother to Michael, James, Peter, Margaret and Christy/ Mono(deceased).
Billy was a simple man who did extraordinary things without need for acknowledgement or praise, and he was loved by all who knew him.
His family were the love of his life and he was theirs. He was the centre of their unit and will continue to be so, a testament to the kind of man Billy was, and the legacy and memories he left behind.
The family have been overwhelmed and touched by the volume of testimonies which have come from those who knew him.
In such a busy life, he was a gentle man. For many years he suffered illness but he never gave up.
The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff of UHW, especially Dr. Elizabeth Abernathy and her team.
The Dialysis unit was Bill’s second home. He was surrounded by love and care while he was a patient there.
To all his wonderful friends who knew him and supported him in his illness, to our local doctors in the family practice and chemists who made sure he had all he needed, to our extended family, friends and neighbours, we as a family thank you for all the cards, letters that came.
Special thanks to Falconers Funeral Home who handled everything with dignity.
Bill we love and miss you everyday but will hold you in our hearts forever. We have so many memories of fun and laughter.
Until we meet again. Peace and Love.
Cut from the finest branch
you took root,
and wrapped yourself
around every living thing
Outstretched and unwavering
in time and space
you touched the flame
and welcomed the child within
You are the tallest of tall trees
the deepest of deep root
You are seven decades long
and the lyrics of every Dylan song
You are the rising stillness
the falling raindrops.
the celestial starlight
and the gravitational pull.
You are our beating heart.
Our spoken tongue.
Our footprint in the sand,
And our fingerprint on the land.
You are Hero.
You are Legend.
You are Lore.
I carve your name with Pride.
