FOLLOWING earlier speculation regarding the opening date, MCDONALD’S in John Roberts Square have confirmed that they will re-open next Wednesday, July 8. The branch on the Cork Road opened earlier this month, on June 3 and support has unwavering for the fast-food giant since.

Opening hours will be 8am to 8pm and significant measures have been put in place to ensure that health and safety is paramount.

Takeaway and sit down service will resume but a spokesperson for McDonald’s confirmed many stores are operating a one-way system with clear markings. Additionally, many seats are blocked off, to reduce the numbers in the restaurant and to promote safe distancing.

McDonald’s released a statement on their website saying:

“In addition to deep cleaning all our restaurants before re-opening, our teams are washing their hands at least every 30 minutes and cleaning equipment and surfaces more often, including kiosks and card readers. In order to help our teams practice social distancing, we have fewer people working on each shift to provide a safer environment particularly when shifts change. Floor markings inside and outside the restaurant will enable our customers to queue safely and we’ve also installed additional screens in our kitchens and service areas, including Perspex screens at collection points. Our teams will continue to wear protective equipment, including face masks (but not the type needed by medical teams).”
