MAKE-up retail giant, Inglot, announced this evening, July 10 that they will not be re-opening any of the stand-alone outlets across Ireland, citing the economic devastation of Covid-19 as an insurmountable barrier to opening. A new collaboration between Inglot, Maura Higgins and Boots has seen a move of this range into Boots. Inglot’s online trade will not be affected.

The Waterford branch in City Square has been closed since March and until recently, staff were unaware of any decision not to re-open. In a statement released on social media, Inglot management said the “immense challenges” facing the retail sector made it too hard to open.

Inglot stores were popular with makeup tutorials in-store, and with Debenhams and their makeup counters also closed following the pandemic, there is a gaping hole in the over-the-counter beauty industry in Waterford.
