Two Waterford players have been nominated in four different categories for the 2019 ‘Three’ FAI International Awards, which were announced today.

Celtic’s Lee O’Connor, formerly of Villa FC and Manchester United, has been nominated in three different categories. The ‘Three’ International Goal of the Year, Under-21 International Player of the Year and Under-19 Men’s International Player of the Year. He is also a past winner at these awards.

Niall O’Keeffe, formerly of VIlla FC and now part of the first team squad at Waterford FC has been nominated for the Schools International Player of the Year from his time with De La Salle College.

These is the 30th year of these awards which celebrates the performances of players in the previous international season. They were due to be held earlier this year but were postponed due to Covid-19.

David McGoldrick, Enda Stevens and Glenn Whelan are the nominees for the senior men’s award.

The ‘Hall of Fame’ and ‘Special Merit’ recipients will be announced next week along with the winners of each category.
