Waterford Animal Welfare assisted Waterford City Roads Policing Unit in the seizure of six dogs from a Northern Ireland registered van.
Earlier today Andrew Quinn and the team assisted Garda Michelle Egan, Garda Alan Kelleher and Garda Greg Ashe in the recovery of the dogs.
According to WAW the dogs were seized as ownership and destination of the dogs was “questionable” and “could not be proven”.
It is believed the unspayed female dogs where picked up throughout Munster.
Since being recovered all have received health checks at Suirside Veterinary Clinic and will be cared for by WAW.
One has successfully been reunited with her owner as a result of microchipping. WAW is seeking the owners of the other dogs.
Absolute proof of ownership is essential. This case is being fully investigated by An Garda Síochána.
In the meantime, WAW has had to rent kennel space for the dogs as they are over run. If you wish to contribute toward the care and board of these please do so here
