Ferrybank

Bus Service

The Ferrybank and Slieverue residents have been without a city bus service for the past five months. The reason for the lack of bus service is that the National Transport Authority has suspended the Kenneally’s Bus Service, operated by JJ Kavanagh & Sons, since April 3rd last, due to CV-19 restrictions. Once again, the residents of the area feel neglected as they look across the river to see Bus Eireann City services operating all their routes. Surely the NTA could have a look at the contracts, historical or otherwise, and include Ferrybank as part of the Bus Eireann Waterford City Service. What will happen when the North Quays Project is completed, including a new railway station, who will get the contract to service this transport hub?

New Primary Care Centre

The groundwork for the new primary care centre is beginning to take shape with the clearance visible from the road, opposite the Ferrybank Shopping Centre. Primary Care is all the health or social care services that you can find in your community, outside of hospital and will prove to be a huge benefit to the community of Ferrybank and surrounding areas. It will include GPs, Public Health Nurses, and a range of other services. The centre will provide a single point of contact to the health system. The full range of services to be offered from the building include: Customer Services Area, General Practice Services, Public Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Social Work Speech and Language Therapy, Mental Health, Community Welfare Dental Services. The building will also provide office accommodation for administrative staff, conferencing, and meeting facilities as well as staff rest and welfare areas.
