Seamus Power goes into tonight’s final round of the Barracuda Championship in seventh place.

Waterford’s Seamus Power is in very good shape ahead of tonight’s final round of the Barracuda Championship at the Tahoe Mountain Club (Old Greenwood) in Truckee California.

The Touraneena man is in seventh position going into round four on +25. The Barracuda Championship is the only PGA TOUR event that uses the Modified Stableford scoring format, which encourages aggressive play.

Modified Stableford awards points based on the number of strokes taken at each hole. Scoring at the Barracuda Championship looks like this:

• Double Eagle: 8 points
• Eagle: 5 points
• Birdie: 2 points
• Par: 0 points
• Bogey: -1 point
• Double Bogey or more: -3 points.

American Troy Merritt leads the way on +33.

Seamus came into the week in 182nd place on the FedEx Cup rankings and rounds of +11, +4 and +10 have him in good shape of claiming his highest placed finish on the PGA Tour and moving up those FedEx Cup rankings.

The West Waterford GC member (33) was six under for his first 12 holes yesterday before bogeys followed at 14 and 15.

Seamus tees off at 10.25pm Irish time tonight with fellow European, Matthias Schwab of Austria.

Best of luck Seamus. See below for one of his six birdies from yesterday’s round.–11-in-round-3-at-barracuda.html
