LEAVING Certificate results will be available today, Monday September 7, from the calculated grades portal. Results will not be available to collect from schools as in other years. A Statement of Provisional Results can be printed from the site, this is the only way to receive a hard copy of results, as this will not be posted to schools this year.
Inside the Portal:
Once students have logged into the calculated grades portal, they will only see their Statement of Provisional Results, not a detailed individual breakdown. However, on Monday, September 14 the portal will re-open and students will be able to see their percentage grade awarded per subject. This includes the percentages awarded by their school. This information will be needed if a student is planning to appeal a grade.
Grades can be appealed through the calculated grades portal from Monday, September 14 at 9am until Wednesday, September 16 at 5pm. There is no fee this year for an appeal. It is still possible that students who appeal a grade will be in a position to start college in 2020. However, if an appeal has to go through several stages, it will not be possible for a 2020 start.
Sitting the Leaving Certificate examination:
Students who opted to sit the physical examination, or those who have decided that they would like the opportunity will begin examinations on Monday, November 16. For those students, it will mean a September 2021 college place, instead of 2020.

Students who have applied outside of Ireland:
The results date of September 7 has allowed for an academic year start in the UK in 2020. This was the result of an agreement between the CAO and UCAS that dates would be extended.
Similarly, it has been noted that a high proportion of students have applied to educational facilities in the Netherlands. A co-ordinated effort between Ireland and the Netherlands has allowed for date extensions so students receiving their results on Monday 7 can still attend on time.
Additional student places:
Funding of €12.5m has been secured to enable 1,250 additional places to be available in high-demand courses. This decision is a move to reduce anxiety associated with the calculated grades process.
