2018 champions, The Nire, are in the mix for JJ Kavanagh & Sons Co. SFC glory once again, after they got the better of Kilrossanty in the last of the 2020 quarter-finals in Fraher Field this evening.

The Nire got off to the perfect start when David Meehan goaled from the penalty spot on six minutes to give them a 1-1 to 0-0 lead.

By the first water-break the gap was five, 1-3 to 0-1.

A low scoring second quarter saw The Nire lead at the interval on a score of 1-5 to 0-3.

A fourth Conor Gleeson point and one from Dermot Ryan saw The Nire lead by 1-8 to 0-7 at the three quarter mark and the game was put beyond doubt with a late Michael Moore goal to five The Nire a 2-9 to 0-8 full-time win.

After this game, the draw was made for the semi-finals of this year’s Co. SFC and it sees The Nire take on old rivals Ballinacourty in Fraher Field on Saturday next at 7pm, while champions Rathgormack will face Gaultier in the other semi in Walsh Park at 2pm on Sunday next.
