Gardaí in Waterford have arrested a driver and seized a vehicle after nine dogs were found in cramped conditions inside cages.

Waterford Gardaí were conducting a checkpoint at Newrath on the outskirts of the city today, as part of Operation Fanacht, when they stopped the car in question and made the discovery.

“There were nine dogs found in the vehicle in cramped conditions. The car and dogs were seized and the driver was arrested. The dogs are now in the care of the WSPCA,” Gardaí said on Twitter.
