Ciaran Kirwan in action for Waterford during their All-Ireland SHC Quarter-Final win over Clare at Pairc Ui Chaoimh. This season he will line out for Clonea in the Co. SHC. Photo: Inpho.

At last night’s executive meeting of the Waterford GAA County Board the following list of assists was approved. Assists are players who are permitted to play with other clubs if their club doesn’t have a hurling or football team. It is also used for the various group teams in the county. In the adult grade for example, the hurlers of Fenor play football with Kill and the footballers of Kill play with Fenor and so on.

The most interesting name on the assists list was that of Kill’s Ciarán Kirwan who was part of Liam Cahill’s Waterford senior hurling panel in 2020 and came on as a sub in the Quarter-final win over Clare in Pairc Uí Chaoimh.

Instead of following his Kill team-mates to hurl with Fenor, he will instead link up with senior club Clonea.

Here is the full list…….more in next Tuesday’s Waterford News & Star
