FOLLOWING on from yesterday’s Severe Weather Coordination meeting, a further meeting was held today ahead of Thursday’s yellow snow and ice warning for Munster. At the moment, it is expected that snowfall will accumulate in Munster, Connaught and Leinster on Thursday, leading to hazardous conditions. The Department of Transport, An Garda Síochána and the HSE have all ramped up efforts ahead of the coming week.

The national Crisis Management Team are continuing to monitor the situation closely, together with Met Éireann.

  • In line with the Cold Weather Strategy 2020/21, additional beds have been made available for homeless sleepers.
  • Crisis management has been activated on a local level
  • Staff members are in place to assist vulnerable and isolated persons

Members of the public are asked to comply with public health guidelines, and reminded to safely check on elderly or vulnerable neighbours.
