KELTECH, based in Waterford city, are forging futures in the metal fabrication and welding industry through a newly created intensive welding programme delivered at our all-new Welding Academy.

Successful applicants first complete a four-week classroom based theory module followed by a four-week practical welding module delivered onsite at Keltech’s training centre in the newly refurbished K2 area of our 150,000sqft facility.

Upon completion graduates are certified to the internationally recognised welding standard EN ISO 9606-1. The programme has been specifically tailored to meet the needs of Keltech who supply OEMs in Ireland, the UK, Europe and the US.

The first batch of 10 students graduated last December. Candidates displayed a strong engineering and mechanical bias at the application stage. The group, most of which were just finished secondary school, benefited from Keltech’s Earn While You Learn approach and were paid during training. All graduates have since successfully transitioned into full-time employment with Keltech.

Seamus Lawlor, Keltech Director of Business Development, explained the importance of the programme. “Keltech have experienced significant growth in recent times. We have become recognised as one of the top suppliers in Europe in our category. We really are proud of the fact that from our Irish facility based in Waterford city we supply six of the top 10 construction original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the world… Our ability to create top quality welding capacity has been the corner stone of this success and initiatives like this is what gives Keltech the competitive edge in the market!”

The Waterford-based firm has received numerous accolades in recent times for their quality of product but perhaps none more impressive than the SQEP “Supplier of Excellence” award from Caterpillar which was recently presented to Keltech for a 5th year running. This award (based on exemplary quality performance) makes Keltech part of an elite group of suppliers, in fact there is just a single digit number of suppliers in the Caterpillar fabrications category in Europe that hold this achievement.

Keltech are now accepting applicants for the next Welding Programme. Should you feel you are a suitable applicant, would like to earn while you learn, work with your hands and most important #MakeCoolStuff we would be delighted to hear from you!
