Waterford FC will face highflying First Division side UCD in the quarter-finals of the FAI Senior Cup after the draw for the last eight was made live on RTÉ’s Game On radio show this evening in what will be a repeat of the 2018 game at the same stage.
On that occasion, the Blues lost out 2-1 with goals from Conor Davis and Timmy Molloy gave the students the win with Stanley Aborah netting for a Waterford side that were then managed by Alan Reynolds.
The Blues booked their place in the last eight after a 4-1 win over Kilnamanagh on Friday night last as the club go in search of ending a 41-year wait for the cup with Brian Gardner’s lone strike winning the final back in 1980 against St. Patrick’s Athletic.
The other quarter-final ties will see St Patrick’s Athletic host Wexford FC, Finn Harps take on Dundalk, and Bohemains entertain non-league side Maynooth. These ties will be played on the weekend of September 19.
