Roy Butler, O’Reilly Road, Cork Road, Waterford. October 28, 1997 – August 17, 2021
We, Angela, Martin, and Aaron, would like to express our deepest and sincerest appreciation and gratitude to all those who
sympathised with us on the great loss of our beloved son and brother Roy. The outpouring of love and support from the community has given us a
great deal of comfort at this most difficult time. We would like to pay a special word of thanks to the paramedics, doctors, and nurses, at University
Hospital Waterford, and to the Dungarvan Division of an Garda Siochana. To the doctors, nurses, neurosurgeons, and chaplain at Cork University Hospital
we say thank you. Our heartfelt thanks also to John Thompson and his staff at Thompson’s Funeral Home for their professionalism, support
and organisation of his funeral. We also thank Tony Wallace for offering prayers and the rosary. A special word of thanks to Fr. Tom Rogers of St. John’s for celebrating the funeral, and for his words of comfort. Thanks to soloist Sarah Jane Lavery, organist Catherine Power, the sacristan, and to all Roy’s family and friends, who took part in his beautiful Mass.
We would also like to thank most sincerely all at Villa FC, the FAI, The Waterford FC Supporters Club, the former Waterford United managers,
Wexford FC, the clubs in the Waterford League, Adrian Flanagan, Noel Browne, and all at the Waterford News & Star for their touching tributes to Roy.
To all his friends, teammates, and work colleagues at Bausch & Lomb, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your genuine help and support to us all. We also thank our relatives, friends, and of course all our neighbours on the Cork Road.
As it is impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our deepest gratitude.
“Too young to die, but it’s better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all.”
Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated on Sunday, September 19, at St. John’s Church, Parnell Street, at 12 noon. May
Roy rest in peace.
