GARTER Lane has a festive treat in store for Waterford theatre lovers this Christmas with Charles Dickens’ immortal classic “A Christmas Carol”. Running from December 1 to December 21, A Christmas Carol is produced by the team behind ‘Red Iron’ and adapted and produced by Liam Meagher with Andrew Holden playing the legendary Ebenezer Scrooge.
First published in 1843, Charles Dickens created this Victorian classic drawing on observations of the lives and dire straits of the poorest people living in London at the time. Ebenezer the miser has closed his heart to memories he would rather forget. With Christmas Spirit disrupting his normal business routine, and visitations from his deceased business partner Jacob Marley, Ebenezer is faced with his past, and the decisions he has made on a lonely life’s quest, that of satisfying his greed.
With covid playing havoc with theatre for the last 20 months, there couldn’t be a better way to celebrate its return and welcome Christmas 2021 with open arms. Produced by Padraig O’Griofa and Michael Grant, with set design by Dermot Quinn and Music and Sound Design by Jamie Beamish, ‘A Christmas Carol’ also stars Joe Meagher, Shauna Farrell, Anne O Riordan, Kieran Walsh, Sinead Hourigan, Devlyn Lonergan and Charlie Meagher. The show is kindly supported by Clem Hire and tickets go on sale this Wednesday at 6:30pm from the Garter Lane Box Office/Garterlane.ie
