IN recognition of more than three decades of service to the Lions Club, Tramore legend Tom ‘Rocky’ Mills has been presented with a plaque in gratitude for his extraordinary efforts to the Waterford Lions Club. For 35 years, Rocky attended the annual children’s outing and provided much loved entertainment to all present. Speaking to the Waterford News & Star last year, Rocky said amongst his gigs each year were several charity events. It was these that he prioritised above all else, so big is his heart. Every May for he sang on three dates for the Lions Club to raise money for children with special needs. Looking back on a lifetime of achievements and extraordinary success, it is these dates in May which he is most proud of.
A special place is always reserved in his heart for children who are drawn to Rocky’s charisma and his fun nature. Every morning, he walks the Prom in Tramore, as he has always done, and children stop to talk to him and he delights them with a chat or a song.
This plaque which was presented to Rocky from Penny Nordell, President of the Lions Club as a token of thanks for the years of joy which Rocky has brought, directly and indirectly to so many adults, families, and especially, to children.
