Steven Tubbritt, General Manager of Home Instead in Waterford with 2022 Munster CAREGiver of the Year Eleanor Fox

HOME Instead has honoured Waterford woman Eleanor Fox for her work with the most vulnerable people in the community, by naming her as the 2022 Munster CAREGiver of the Year.


The care company, which cares for in excess of 350 clients in Waterford, runs the annual carer recognition awards to reflect the incredible work that carers do right across the country, helping to keep older people safe and well in their own homes and communities.


Eleanor, who has worked for Home Instead for 13 years, was nominated for the award by Steven Tubbritt, General Manager of Home Instead in Waterford.


“Eleanor has been with Home Instead since we started in Waterford – she is an absolute pleasure to work with and goes way beyond on every service she provides to every client,” Stephen said. “Her amazing work ethic and personality has made her our “go to” carer. Clients and their families are full of compliments for Eleanor’s work, and her kind and gentle nature. She is best described as irreplaceable.”


Eleanor, from Waterford City, worked for 15 years previous to Home Instead in a residential setting, she also cared for her Mother for 8 years who had Dementia, Eleanor is married to Paddy and has two kids Aaron and Clara and a little grandson Noah.


Awards Judge, Molly Carpenter, Director of Workforce at Home Instead Inc., and author of Confidence to Care, said that the testimonials and feedback from Eleanor’s colleagues, fellow CAREGivers and, “perhaps most importantly, her clients show just important a member of the team and the community she is”.

“We were delighted to recognise her outstanding contribution by awarding her the Munster CAREGiver of the Year prize,” Molly said.


Many of Eleanor’s clients and their families were part of the process to nominate her for the award. Eleanor was praised for her work with existing and new clients, she currently provides care to in excess of 15 clients in Waterford City and surrounding areas.


Chief Operating Officer of Home Instead, Shane Jennings said that the CAREGiver of the Year awards were a reflection of the “fantastic work that Home Instead carers do in every town, village and county in Ireland”.

“I’m delighted that Eleanor is this year’s Munster CAREGiver of the year,” Shane said. “You only need to see what Eleanor’s clients have to say about her to know that she is the ideal CAREGiver, she is cheerful, kind, and trustworthy, and she deserves every praise for her work in her local community.”


There are currently more than 5,000 people waiting for home support packages in Ireland, including 1,500 + in Waterford and surrounding counties. Home Instead is actively recruiting CAREGivers in Ireland and across the country to help ensure that this demand can continue to be met.
