As Waterford FC prepare to face their first home game under the ownership of Andy Pilley, a significant Munster derby clash with Cork City in the SSE Airtricity First Division, the club have announced details of marquee (pictured above, being erected today) that will sell alcohol ahead of the game.
After receiving the backing of the Waterford City Council this afternoon, the Blues will have a section for supporters that will fit 200 fans inside the marquee and a further 200 outside with live music also likely to be played before kick-off with things set to get underway at 5pm.
Andy Pilley (pictured below) as in Waterford last evening (Wednesday) where he held a fans forum and met with members of the local media where it’s hoped that the club can agree a new lengthy lease on the RSC facilities in the very near future.
Confirming the news of tomorrow’s events, the club said: “Waterford FC can confirm following approval from Waterford City Council that there will be a marquee next to the main stand for fans to meet up prior to kick-off.
“With a capacity of 400 people – 200 under cover and 200 outside – the club’s marquee will be opening its doors on Friday 9 September at 5pm for supporters to catch up and drink beer ahead of the match against Cork City.
“After getting approval from the council, the Club has been working hard to construct and get everything in place for the game, with new owner Andy Pilley in town to watch his first hone match since taking over at The Blues.
“Doors will open at 5pm, so get down early and take advantage of a select beer and enjoy the pre-match entertainment with friends and family – buy your match tickets online at www.waterford fc.ie/tickets
“The Club would like to thank Sean Johnston of the Causeway Group, Clem Jacob and Heineken for helping out at such short notice. We’d also like to thank Waterford City Council and Garda for their assistance getting the licensing.”
