Bingo Fundraiser

On November 8, our TY Bingo Fundraiser took place at The Forum, Waterford in aid of our annual TY show. A fantastic evening was had with lots of fun and brilliant prizes. A huge thank you to all involved and to all who supported our night. We raised over €2,400 towards the cost of our 2023 TY Show ‘Frozen’.

School of Sanctuary

‘A School of Sanctuary is a place of welcome, safety and inclusion, especially for families seeking sanctuary and who face danger in their own countries. It is a school that helps students, staff and the wider community understand what it means to seek sanctuary or refuge. The three principles of Schools of Sanctuary are 1. Learn, 2. Action and 3. Share.”

To thrive as a caring school, which shows respect for all and is truly inclusive, Presentation Secondary School, is undertaking a development in its future, as Ireland becomes more culturally diverse.

Since 2020, following a request by email from Homayoon Shirzad, from the Schools of Sanctuary organisation, our school has been working towards becoming a School of Sanctuary. This process has involved staff mentoring, student workshops, and the appointment of student ambassadors.

We have undertaken, as a school community, to promote and build on our strong culture of inclusion to further enhance our school as a place where everyone feels welcomed, safe and valued. This ethos is complemented by the work we are also doing as part of the Yellow Flag Programme, which promotes greater understanding and valuing of cultural diversity within school communities.
