A man in his 50s was arrested by Waterford Gardaí for road traffic offences following this evening’s road traffic collision at the Grattan Quay/Rice Bridge junction.

He was arrested at the scene and taken to Waterford Garda Station where he was charged. The man is expected to appear before Waterford District Court at 10:30am tomorrow morning.

Gardaí continue to investigate the collision that occurred at approximately 4:45pm this evening.

According to a Garda spokesperson: “It’s reported a vehicle travelling the wrong way on the Rice Bridge collided with another vehicle before mounting a footpath. This vehicle then travelled along the footpath and collided with another vehicle at Grattan Quay.

“One person was taken to hospital as a precaution. No other injuries to persons were reported.”

Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to this incident to come forward. Road users who may have camera footage (including dash cam) and were travelling in the Rice Bridge/Grattan Quay area between 4:30pm and 5pm have been asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
