The times and dates for Waterford’s Munster Senior Hurling Championship games for 2023 have been confirmed by the Munster Council.
There is still no clarification on where Waterford will play there two ‘home games’ although speculation is mounting that one will be in Thurles and one in Cork.
Waterford will begin their campaign, one presumes in either Thurles or Cork, against four-in-a-row chasing All-Ireland champions Limerick on Sunday, April 23 at 2pm.
On the same afternoon Clare will host Tipperary in Ennis at 4pm.
Both provincial hurling finals have been scheduled to take place on the same afternoon this summer, though there is a possibility the Leinster decider could yet be brought forward by a day. Munster chiefs have now confirmed the throw-in times for their set of championship fixtures, including the decider.
The Munster SHC will begin with Davy Fitzgerald’s Waterford facing John Kiely’s Limerick on April 23rd at 2pm – at a venue still to be decided. With redevelopment work taking place at Walsh Park, Waterford have to sacrifice home advantage in both their upcoming league and championship campaigns.
On the same afternoon, Clare will host Tipperary in Ennis at 4pm.
There will be 7pm throw-in times for Limerick’s home clash with Clare on April 29th and also Cork’s fixture with Tipperary at Páirc Úi Chaoimh the following week.
Six days later Limerick will play host to Clare in the Gaelic Grounds at 7pm on the Saturday night.
The following day, April 30, Waterford will travel to Pairc Uí Chaoimh to take on Cork at 4pm.
Waterford are not in action the following weekend with the only game down for decision being the meeting of Cork and Tipperary in Pairc Uí Chaoimh on Saturday, May 6 at 7pm.
The following Saturday, May 13, Waterford will again ‘host’ Clare in a venue to be decided with a 6pm throw-in. Again this is the only game that weekend.
Again Waterford are not in action the following weekend. On Sunday, May 21 Clare will face Cork in Ennis at 2pm and Tipperary will play Limerick in Thurles at 4pm.
The final round of group games will take place on the following Sunday, May 28 with Limerick hosting Cork in the Gaelic Grounds and Tipperary hosting Waterford in Thurles. Both games will throw-in at 4pm.
The Munster Final will take place on Sunday, June 11 at 2pm.
