We’re still talking about the moment local Waterford Garda Brian Delaney went viral dancing on the streets in Africa Day all the way back in 2018. This year, the festival celebrating the thriving African culture we have on Irish soil promises to be as vibrant and exciting as ever.
Festivities run the gamut from live music and drumming to children’s workshops, crafts display and a street food market with diverse foods from different African countries.
The events take place Saturday, May 27 across in Waterford’s Cultural Quarter from 12noon to 4pm and no doubt the fun will extend into the evening.
Our photographer Joe Evans was on the scene for the launch of Africa Day 2023 in Waterford; here’s a taster of what to expect.
