Popular Waterford bus route is enhanced to the delight of locals

The enhanced 354 bus service to Dunmore East will now service estates in the village.
The 354 bus service to Dunmore East is set to be enhanced.
Previously, the Carrick-on-Suir to Dunmore East via Waterford route would stop outside the Bay Café in Dunmore East village.
Now, the service will be expanded to complete a full loop, better servicing estates in the area.
Explaining further, Cllr David Daniels said it is a big win for residents.
“For the last year, I’ve been getting complaints in Dunmore East that the 354 bus on the official timetable was scheduled to stop outside the Bay Café.
“So on bad winter's nights the bus would stop there and passengers, particularly elderly and school children, would have to get off in rain and would have to walk up a dark hill back into their estates behind the café.”
Cllr Daniels said he was in negotiations with the NTA and Bus Eireann regarding the issue.
“I’ve now got confirmation from Bus Eireann that it's near completion and that the NTA have agreed to do it," he said.
"I’m delighted that all my work with the NTA and Bus Eireann to get the stops on the loop officially added to the timetable has come to fruition. NTA have approved the new stops and the new timetable will be released shortly."
He added that the new timetable will be released in the coming weeks.
“The bus will now not terminate at the Bay Café, it will do the full loop, and the passengers can get off in the estates.”
Cllr Daniels said the issue was a major concern for residents in the area in recent times.
“It was a major, major issues in Dunmore East, so getting these stops on the official timetable now is a big win for the residents.”
"The enhanced service by the 354 and a number of months back the Local Link 358 to service Ballymacaw is great news for the locality and many thanks to the NTA and Bus Eireann for listening to the concerns of the community."
