The blue plaque will be unveiled in Dunmore East on Sunday.

A very special event will take place in County Waterford this coming weekend.

On Sunday, August 24, a blue plaque will be unveiled in the seaside town of Dunmore East honouring Nanette Malcomson.

She was the woman who built the local Fisherman's Hall in the town, for the benefit of local fishermen.

The hall was built as an amenity for the entire local fishing community and she constructed it in honour of her son, Joseph Malcomson.

The unveiling, which will take place at 12noon, will be carried out by Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for Mental Health, Mary Butler TD.

The blue plaque series is an initiative of Waterford Civic Trust and they are erected to mark historically significant buildings and sites around Waterford City and county.
