Marmen String Quartet to perform in Waterford

The Marmen String Quartet will perform in Waterford on Wednesday 5 November as part of a national tour. 

Classical music organisation Waterford Music will host the Marmen String Quartet on Wednesday, November 5. 

Waterford Music is collaborating with the National String Quartet Foundation to stage the concert, which is part of The Marmen Quartet's national tour. 

The concert will take place in the Dr Mary Strangman Large Room at 7.30pm and quartet will perform a programme featuring the much-loved composers Haydn, Beethoven and Bartók, as well as contemporary music from Sam Perkin.

The Marmen String Quartet consists of Johannes Marmen (violin) after whom the quartet is named, Laia Braun, (violin) Bryony Gibson-Cornish (viola) and Sinéad O’Halloran, who plays the cello, and whose singing voice will feature in the Perkin piece. 

The National String Quartet Foundation organises tours for string quartets, and The Marmen's Waterford concert is the first concert in a tour that will take them to Sligo, Cork, Wexford and The National Concert Hall in Dublin.

Tickets for The Marmen Quartet's concert are available from Waterford Music's website, waterford-music.org, and at the door on the night. 

They cost €20 for full-price tickets, €15 for seniors/unwaged and €5 for students.
